Arrest made after man wearing Guy Fawkes mask robs Ennis shop

A sum of cash was taken, but no one was injured in the incident.

A MAN HAS been arrested as part of a Garda investigation into a robbery at a shop in Ennis last Wednesday.

At around 4pm that day, a man in his 20s wearing a Guy Fawkes mask entered the shop on Kilrush Road with what appeared to be a firearm.

He threatened staff and left on foot with a sum of cash, fleeing down Clon Road and onto an area known as Rocky Road.

He was described as approximately 6ft tall, thin build wearing a dark coloured “ccc” tracksuit, tracksuit leggings and dark top.

No one was injured in the incident.

A man was arrested this afternoon in Co Clare and is detained at Shannon Garda Station under the provisions of section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 as amended.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact Ennis Garda Station on 065 6848100, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
