• A woman in her 40s has died and a teenager has been arrested following a “violent” incident in Co Offaly this afternoon.  
• GAA star DJ Carey, whose official name is Denis Carey, has appeared before court this morning on 21 charges relating to fraud and forgery offences.  
• Two men that were arrested in connection with the largest drugs haul in the history of the State have appeared before a special sitting of Waterford District Court this evening. 
• More than 12,000 people slept in emergency accommodation around the country in August, including a record-high number of children.
• The fund containing money which the European Commission has said US tech giant Apple must pay Ireland in back tax lost €259 million in value last year, according to a new report from the Comptroller and Auditor General.
• Meanwhile, PAC chair Brian Stanley said the “taxpayer is failing to achieve value for money” following the release of the Comptroller and Auditor General’s Annual Report.
• Taoiseach Leo Varadkar told advocacy groups for scoliosis and spina bifida patients that he “wouldn’t rule out” a statutory review of Children’s Health Ireland (CHI) during a meeting this afternoon.  
• Housing prices in the third quarter of 2023 were 1.1% higher than a year ago, according to the latest Daft.ie House Price Report released today.

Europe have a five-point lead after the USA failed to win a match across a Ryder Cup day for the first time in history.

It is the joint-largest first-day lead the Ryder Cup has seen since 1979, and it means Europe need just eight points out of the remaining 20 to win the Cup.
