Scene preserved as gardaí investigate discovery of body in burnt-out car

The discovery of the body came after a car fire at Giles Quay near Dundalk in Co Louth was extinguished yesterday evening.

THE SCENE WHERE a body was discovered in a burnt out car near Dundalk, Co Louth last night is being preserved as gardaí continue their investigation.

The body was found after gardaí were called to a car on fire at Giles Quay near Lordship in Dundalk at around 7.15pm yesterday evening.

Once the fire was extinguished the body was discovered and the area sealed off.

An investigation is underway with the scene preserved pending a technical examination by gardaí later today.

A post-mortem is also due to take place with the office of the State pathologist informed.
