The CAO Round One offers in numbers
It’s all in the maths.

TODAY, AROUND 50,000 prospective college students are receiving offers for places.

That is just one of the numbers, though.

Here are some of the facts about a big day in many peoples’ lives.

50,848 – The number of applicants who will receive an offer in round one

39,398 – The number of offers for Level 8 degrees

19,974/50% – The number of offers that are the applicant’s Level 8 first preference

30,873/78% – The number of applicants receiving their first, second or third Level 8 preference

34,615 – The number of offers for Level 6 or 7 course

28,318/81% – The number of Level 6 or 7 offers that are first choices

33,162/96% – The number of Level 6 or 7 offers that are top three choices

11,951 – Offers made for Arts degrees – the most popular subject type

79 – People being offered Level 8 dentistry courses

10,825 – Offers being made are to people in Dublin

424 – Are going to Leitrim students

60 – Are being made to non-EU applicants

12,465 – The number of mature applicants

7,741 – Of those who received an offer

60,883 – The number of times people changed their mind on their CAO forms

The National Parents Council has an exam helpline, manned by experts from the Institute of Guidance Counsellors and a member of SUSI, the student grant body, from 8am to 7pm today. The number is 1800 265 165. It is also open tomorrow,  from 8am to 7pm, and Wednesday, from 8am to 1pm.
