A US POLITICIAN has come under scrutiny after posting a Christmas greeting message outlining her support for gun ownership.

Michele Fiore is a Republican member of the Nevada Assembly where she has served since February 2013.

The long-time gun advocate is a member of the National Rifle Association and has previously come to attention for her support of a Bill that would have allowed the carrying of concealed weapons for self-defence on college campuses, in primary schools and in nurseries.

The picture was posted by Fiore on 30 November, a day after a shooting at a Planned Parenthood clinic in Colorado Springs and two days before the San Bernardino shooting that saw 14 people injured and 21 others injured.

The image has been posted on Fiore’s Facebook page.

Underneath the post she has written:

It’s up to Americans to protect America. We’re just your ordinary American family. With love & liberty, Michele.

In the picture the names of the family members are listed along with the guns that each of them are holding.

Fiore is set to run for the US Congress next year.
