Man (80s) dies following collision between car and truck in Co Louth

The body of the man remains at the scene of the collision, gardaí have confirmed.

A MAN HAS died following a collision between a car and truck in Co Louth this afternoon.

The collision occurred at around 5.40pm on the N2 at Edmondstown, Ardee, Co Louth.

The driver of the car, a man in his 80s, was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision.

His body remains at the scene.

No other injuries were reported at the time.

The road is currently closed, pending technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

Local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward.

“Road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area of Edmondstown, Ardee, Co Louth, between 5pm and 6pm today are asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí,” a spokesperson said.
