Dublin Airport welcomes its 20 millionth passenger this year

She was presented with a cheque for €3,000 after arriving in Dublin Airport from Washington this morning.

DUBLIN AIRPORT TODAY welcomed its 20 millionth passenger of the year.

She was greeted by staff of Dublin Airport and was presented with a bottle of Champagne, a bunch of flowers and a cheque for €3,000.

Roma Chang from County Tyrone arrived in Dublin Airport on a 10am United Airlines flight from Washington.

Dublin Airport traffic is up 6 per cent on last year, which is the third consecutive year that there has been passenger growth.

Passenger numbers

Annual passenger numbers peaked in 2008 at 23.5 million and then fell back during the recession to 18.4 million in 2010. Since then it has been on the rise each year.

A number of new routes announced by Aer Lingus such as to Toronto and San Francisco and also Ryanair’s additional routes to destinations such as Prague and Lisbon is set to increase the numbers of passengers through the terminals at Dublin Airport in 2014.
