Pedestrian killed after early morning collision in Dublin

The incident happened at around 3am this morning.

A PEDESTRIAN HAS been killed following a road traffic collision in the north of Dublin city.

This happened at around 3am this morning on the inbound N2 dual carriageway in Finglas.

A car collided with a pedestrian, who was fatally injured and later pronounced dead at the scene.

Gardaí have not yet identified the pedestrian, and his body has been removed to Connolly Memorial Hospital in Blanchardstown.

The driver of the car, a 50-year-old man, was uninjured in the collision.

The stretch of road where the it happened is still closed to allow an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators to take place.

Local diversions are in place and the road is expected to reopened at around 10am.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or was on the stretch of road between 2.30am and 3am is being asked to contact Finglas Garda Station on 016667500 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
