Ed Miliband to wed longtime partner

The leader of the British opposition party has announced that he will marry his longtime partner – however, he won’t be asking his brother to be his best man.

THE LEADER OF Britain’s opposition Labour Party and his long-term partner say they are planning to marry in May.

Labour leader Ed Miliband broke the news of his impending marriage to lawyer Justine Thornton in Wednesday’s edition of the Doncaster Free Press newspaper.

The couple have two sons — a 21 month-old and a four-month-old.

Miliband, the Member of Parliament for Doncaster, told the paper they agreed around March last year to get married and their plans had not changed after the 41-year-old won a hard-fought Labour leadership battle against his brother, David, in September.

He also announced, to some surprise, that he would not be having a best man, reports the Telegraph. The traditional position was expected to go his brother David, who Ed Miliband recently beat in a Labour leadership race.
