Man (30s) killed after car leaves road and overturns

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the single car collision.

A MAN IN his late 30s has died after the car he was driving left the road and overturned at Cam Hill, Brideswell, Co Roscommon at around 10.30pm yesterday evening.

It happened on the R363 between Dysart and Brideswell, near Athlone.

The driver suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

A male passenger in his mid-30s suffered minor injuries and was taken to Portiuncula Hospital, Ballinasloe.

There were no other vehicles involved.

The scene has been preserved ahead of forensic tests, according to a Garda statement. A section of the road is currently closed at Cam Hill, and diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses, particularly people travelling the R363 between Dysart and Brideswell during the hours of 10pm and 10.45pm last night, to get in touch.
