Investigation ongoing after garda injured in hit-and-run incident

The garda was on foot patrol when he was struck by the vehicle.

GARDAÍ ARE FOLLOWING a definite line of inquiry after a garda was injured in a hit-and-run incident yesterday evening.

The male gardaí was on foot patrol when he was struck by the vehicle, which failed to stop.

The gardaí was taken to Castlebar Hospital where his injuries were described as non-life threatening. He was later discharged. 

The incident occurred on the junction at Teeling Street and Kevin Barry Street in Ballina.

The vehicle was recovered a short time after the incident.

The vehicle has been seized so that a forensic investigation can be carried out.
