Gardaí arrest armed man on train and then detain woman at Dublin Airport in gangland operation

The incidents happened this afternoon.

GARDAÍ HAVE ARRESTED a man in his 20s after he was found to be in possession of a firearm at a Dublin train station.

The man, who is believed to be from the north inner city area of Dublin, was arrested at Connolly Station this afternoon shortly before 3.30pm as he attempted to travel to Belfast.

Plain clothes as well as uniformed gardaí entered a carriage and the man was arrested.

A woman aged in her 20s was later arrested at Dublin Airport during follow-up searches.

Investigations are ongoing but gardaí are satisfied that this was not a terror-related incident.

Both the man and woman are currently detained at Store Street garda station.
