Gardaí appeal for witness after woman is killed in a crash in Clare

The fatal crash occured last Friday on the R458.

GARDAÍ ARE APPEALING for witness after a woman was killed in a car crash in Co. Clare last Friday.

The woman in her 60s was brought to University Hospital Limerick with serious injuries and was pronounced dead yesterday evening. 

A female passenger in her 70s was also brought to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The single vehicle road traffic collision occured on the R458, Rathfolan, Newmarket on Fergus, Co. Clare shortly before 10.50pm on Friday. 

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the crash to come forward. They are also asking that anyone in the area with camera footage, including dash cam, between 10:30pm and 11pm to make it available to the investigation.

A technical examination of the scene has been completed and the road has reopened. 

Investigations into the incident are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact Shannon Garda Station on 061 365 900, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.
