Man arrested in connection with Jonny Cooper stabbing released without charge

The Dublin defender was stabbed on Dorset Street in Dublin.

THE MAN ARRESTED in relation to the stabbing of Dublin footballer Jonny Cooper was released from questioning without charge last night.

Gardaí arrested the 31-year-old man yesterday and detained him at Mountjoy Garda Station under Section 4 of Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

Serious assault 

Cooper was seriously assaulted after a night out in the early hours of the morning of 20 September on Lower Dorset Street in Dublin.

He was removed to the Mater Hospital where he was treated for his injuries.
