TWO MEMBERS OF the gardaí were injured yesterday after a stolen car smashed into their patrol car.
The incident happened on the Kildalkey Road in Trim, County Meath, yesterday afternoon at about 4pm.
Stolen car
The car, which was stolen the day before, is believed to have been carrying four passengers.
The stolen car crashed into the garda patrol car, damaging the vehicle extensively. It is not believed that the gardaí were in pursuit of the stolen vehicle at the time, but were travelling in the opposite direction.
The two gardaí were taken to hospital before being released last night.
One juvenile male was arrested following the incident, but he has since been released from custody.
Gardaí said their investigations into the incident are continuing and they are appealing to anyone with information to contact them.
