A CHARITY SINGLE has been crowned Christmas number one in the UK, after Justin Bieber asked fans to support them.
The Lewisham and Greenwich NHS choir released A Bridge Over You to raise money for health charities and were pitted head to head with the Canadian superstar’s hit Love Yourself.
However, earlier this week, Bieber told fans to get behind the choir, having previously spoken of his admiration for the British healthcare system.
He told his 72 million Twitter followers that it was “ok not to be number one” this week.
The tweet worked, with the choir selling 127,000 copies of the song to Bieber’s 97,000. When Bieber sent the tweet, he was 662 units ahead.
The NHS Choir song was recorded two years ago, but a social media campaign saw it shoot up the charts.
In Ireland, however, Bieber occupies all three top spots, with Love Yourself, Sorry and What Do You Mean?
