An Post has announced the deadlines for posting letters and parcels abroad for Christmas

The dates might be sooner than you think.

CHRISTMAS IS COMING, and so are the deadlines for posting letters and parcels if you want them to get where they’re going in time.

An Post is reminding people who plan on sending gifts, letters and cards this Christmas that the last dates to do so are closer than you might think.

“Last dates for posting to the USA and the rest of the world are fast approaching with just under a week to go to ensure your parcels, cards and letters make it to family and friends on time for Christmas Day,” An Post said in a statement today.

The last day for posting outside of Europe (not including the United States) is Thursday 4 December (that’s next Thursday).

The latest date for posting cards to the US is Wednesday 10 December

Parcels for Europe should be packed and posted by Friday 12 December and letters by Thursday 18 December

“Due to exceptionally high volumes,” Tuesday 16 December is the posting deadline for all parcels for pre-Christmas delivery within Ireland and to the United Kingdom.

Monday 22 December is the final deadline for posting letters and cards within the Republic of Ireland.
