US firm snaps up exclusive Lough Erne resort

The exclusive resort hosted the G8 meeting last year.

THE FIVE -STAR Lough Erne Resort has been sold to a US firm for a reported €10.5 million.

The management of Lough Erne Resort said in a statement that it was a “good news story” adding that they are “very happy to announce the beginning of a new chapter in the life of the Resort”.

The exclusive resort, which hosted the G8 meeting last year, has been agreed for sale to Lough Shore Road Limited, an affiliate of US based investors Tralee Portfolio Management, a Saliba Family investment firm, as a going concern.

The statement went on to say:

Our new owners have a long and successful track record in the hospitality sector in the US and other markets, and we welcome them to this island. Our new owners will also provide further continuity and stability for what is already a very strong product.

The management said that it was a good result for the region and for Northern Ireland as a whole, stating that the investment shows a significant vote of confidence in “one of the best golf resorts in Western Europe and a world-class tourist destination”.
