Man (30s) dies after car discovered in Co Cork river

The car was discovered in the River Bride shortly before 10am this morning.

A MAN HAS died after his car was discovered in a river in Co Cork this morning.

Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to a car in the water of the River Bride, close to the Conna Road R628, shortly before 10am this morning.

The man, aged in his 30s, was the driver and only occupant of the car and was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body was removed to Cork University Hospital where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.

The road remains closed pending a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.

Any road users, who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, and were traveling on the Conna Road R628 between 10pm last night and 10am this morning are asked to make this footage available.
