Man dies after falling out of a moving car in Limerick

The car in which he fell did not remain at the scene.

A MAN IN his 30s has died after he fell from the rear door of a car that was travelling on the N69 in Limerick.

He was then struck by a second vehicle travelling on the same road.

The car that he fell from fled the scene, however the car that struck the man remained at the scene.

The 31-year-old male was pronounced dead and his body remains at the scene.

Gardai in Newcastle West are investigating the fatal road traffic collision which happened at approximately 1am on the N69, Askeaton side of Kildimo.

This stretch of road is currently closed and local diversions are in place. The road is expected to remain closed until this afternoon. HGV’s travelling on this route are asked to use the N21.

Gardai wish to appeal for witnesses to this collision or to anyone who may have information relating to a 99 WH registration light blue car, possibly a Toyota Avensis or a BMW, that the deceased fell from, to contact Newcastle West garda station on 069 20650, The Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
