Man due in court over Limerick murder

A murder investigation was launched after Martin Purcell, 54, was found dead at a flat in the city last week.

A 32-YEAR-OLD man in due to appear before Limerick District Court this morning in connection with the murder of a man in Limerick city last week.

The body of Martin Purcell, 54, was discovered in an apartment on Wickham Street on Friday morning.

It is thought his body may have been on the premises for several days before being discovered and gardaí said there was no sign of a break-in.

A post-mortem found that he died as a result of stab wounds.

The man appearing in court at 10.30am today was arrested in Limerick city on Sunday.
