1. Air Corps

A major study carried out in 2021 warned Government of the impending collapse of the Air Corps Air Traffic Service (ATS) but a scheme that may have prevented the crisis was only requested this February – four years later.

2. ‘Massacre’

Israeli soldiers have opened fire on people near a US-backed aid distribution site in Gaza, killing at least 22 and wounding more than 120, according to the Palestinian territory’s civil defence agency. 

3. Presidential candidates 

With less than six months to go until the presidential election, the prospect of a unity left-wing candidate may be slipping away. 

4. Russian bridges collapse

Seven people were killed when two bridges in different Russian regions bordering Ukraine collapsed.

5. Poles go to the polls 

Poles began voting this morning in a tight presidential election with major implications for the country’s role in Europe, and for abortion and LGBTQ rights.

6. Irish economy
