Motorcyclist dies after collision with car in Ballymena

The crash occurred this morning in the Crankill Road area.

A 60-YEAR-OLD MAN has died following a road collision involving an car and a motorcycle in Ballymena, Co Antrim. 

The crash occurred this morning in the Crankill Road area and police were alerted at around 10:25am, the Police Service of Northern Ireland said.

“Officers attended, together with colleagues from other emergency services, but sadly the motorcyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene,” a PSNI spokesperson said.

“He was 60-year-old Jim Wylie from the local area. 

“The road was closed for a time, but has since fully reopened to road users. 

“Our enquiries are continuing, and we would appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have digital footage which could assist with our investigation, to contact the Collision Investigation Unit on 101, quoting reference number 376 13/04/26.”
