IT WON’T BE easy but we’ve made loads of progress, is the central message from video messages recorded by Ministers Michael Noonan and Brendan Howlin ahead of tomorrow’s Budget.
The two short videos have been posted by the government’s official news service MerrionStreet.ie and tee up the Budget announcement without giving away too much.
As Noonan and Howlin list their achievements, helpful captions reinforce the message of general positivity.
“We’re on the verge of leaving of the EU-IMF bailout, the economy is growing and 3,000 jobs are being created each month,” Noonan says.

Meanwhile, Howlin informs us that this Budget is about three things, the first being “you, the people”.
He says that the reduced adjustment “will nurture the green shoots we’ve seen in our domestic economy” but warns “the Budget will not be easy, that’s a given.”
Gulp.
