A PEDESTRIAN HAS died after he was knocked down on the outskirts of Cork city this afternoon.
Gardaí say the accident happened on the Ballyhooley Road near Ballyvolane just before 1pm when a man in his 30s was struck by an articulated lorry.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A section of the road between Whites Cross and Ballyvolane Cross has been closed off for forensic examination.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the accident or anyone who can assist them with their investigation to contact them at Mayfield Garda Station.
