Shots fired at gardaí during ATM raid in Enniscorthy

The three raiders got away with a quantity of cash.

AN ATTEMPTED raid took place on an ATM in Enniscorthy, County Wexford overnight.

It is believed to have taken place after 3.30am, when three raiders attempted to raid an Ulster Bank ATM on Rafter Street.

Gardaí on mobile patrol were approached by a male suspect who fired a shot from what is described as a handgun. Two other male suspects were observed coming out of the bank.

A quantity of cash was taken and all three suspects fled the scene in a black high powered estate car.

No one was injured in the incident and the scene is being preserved.
