WITH THE BEST will in the world, sometimes our recycling habits could do with an overhaul – although we currently recycle 33% of plastic, 35% of our recycling can be contaminated.
This is due to things like nappies and food waste – often left to rot within the tubs that we recycle, and forced to be hand-sorted in recycling centres around the country.
Because of that, it’s pretty important that we’re doing everything we can to cut down on and recycle as much of our waste as possible, especially if we are to meet our EU plastic recycling targets of 50% by 2025.
So, here’s a chance to be honest – use our interactive sliders below to tell us the truth about your recycling habits.
General intentions aside, let’s look at your recycling habits at home and at work. Are you great for nipping to the bottle bank after a party? Or do you tend to throw your old documents straight into the general bin at work (we get that it’s a lot closer than the recycling bin).
Let us know how your habits change depending on whether you’re at work or at home by using the sliders below.
Think your recycling habits could do with a little work? Not sure exactly what should go into your recycle bin? Find out exactly what you can recycle here. Currently we recycle 33% of plastics in Ireland, but we need to ensure Ireland meets its targets of 50% by 2025. See what you can do to play your part at Repak.ie.
