A GLITCH IN the Ryanair app meant users over the weekend were able to access details of other people’s flight bookings and even click through to their boarding passes.
TheJournal.ie was contacted by one user who booked a flight yesterday evening. She went back into the app later that night to check something and noticed she could see check-in details for a number of flights due to depart today and tomorrow.
These flights were not ones she had booked, however, and she realised she could click through to the boarding passes, which contained names and reference numbers.
Ryanair told us the glitch occurred at the weekend as a result of the system upgrade it was undergoing.
“When first reported by customers on Monday it was rectified,” they said.
The office of the Data Protection Commissioner has also contacted the airline about the issue. It said it will continue to work with Ryanair as it addresses the data protection related issues.
