A STATUS YELLOW wind warning has been issued for Waterford, Wexford and Wicklow.

The warning will come into effect at 11am tomorrow, Friday, and it will expire at 5pm the same day.

Met Éireann has warned of loose debris and objects being displaced by the wind.

Travelling conditions may be more difficult during the warning.

Today will be dry and bright for most, with sunny spells and isolated showers.

However, cloud and rain will linger in the northeast for a time.

Through the afternoon and evening, cloud will increase from the west with scattered showers gradually spreading eastwards, turning heavy at times. There is also a chance of hail.

Temperatures will reach highs of 5 to 9 degrees in light to moderate southwesterly winds, which will be fresher on the Atlantic coast.

Tonight, showers will ease for many, leaving a mostly dry night with clear spells.

However, showers will linger in the northwest for a time.

Cloud will thicken from the southwest overnight and rain and drizzle will move into the southwest and west by morning.

Tomorrow, Friday, is to be a wet and blustery day, as weather warnings take effect.

Rain will extend northeastwards, turning heavy in places.

Southeasterly winds will become strong and gusty.

There will be scattered showers and some brighter spells through the afternoon and evening, as winds calm down.

Some of the showers will be heavy.

Temperatures will reach highs of 8 to 12 degrees, with Ulster being the coolest.
