Women with HIV

1. The rate at which women are receiving a first-time HIV diagnosis in Ireland rose sharply in 2024, new data has revealed.

Zelensky Ireland visit

2. Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky will make his first official visit to Ireland tomorrow, accompanied by First Lady Olena Zelenska.

3. The government needs to “step up” and establish mechanisms to deal with the legacy of the Troubles “at pace”, a new report from British MPs has said.

Extreme flooding

4. Sri Lanka and  Indonesia have deployed military personnel today to help victims of devastating flooding that has killed nearly 1,000 people across four countries in Asia in recent days.

5. The proposal to rename Herzog Park in Rathgar is set to be withdrawn from Dublin City Council after criticism from Government and Israeli and US politicians.

6. The Christmas bonus payments are to be paid to approximately 1.5m people this week.
