1. A proposal on giving greater access to prenatal testing has gone to the Department of Health for consideration. These tests can accurately screen for foetal abnormalities and chromosomal conditions, but they are currently only available privately and cost hundreds of euros.

US senator dies

2. Lindsey Graham has died after a “brief and sudden illness” at the age of 71. Graham was a staunch supporter of US president Donald Trump, and a vocal critic of Irish support of Palestine.

Ann Widdecombe murder

3. A 28-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of former MP and MEP Ann Widdecombe at her home in southern England. The 26-year-old man previously arrested has now been released.

4. Argentina have beaten Switzerland 3-1 to set up a clash with bitter rivals England in a much anticipated semi-final on Wednesday.

7. Iran is closing Strait of Hormuz again and has launched missiles and drones at its Gulf neighbours, in retaliation to further US attacks.

All-Ireland final

8. Mayo and Louth battled it out in Croke Park last night, with Mayo defeating Louth 3-23 0-15 to reach the All-Ireland Senior Football Final.
