US author of paedophile guide gets two years' probation

Phillip Greaves caused controversy last year when he published his guide as an e-book on Amazon and it made it into the top 100 bestsellers.

THE US AUTHOR of a controversial guidebook which gave advice to paedophiles has been sentenced to two years’ probation.

Phillip Greaves pleaded no contest to a charge of distributing disturbing obscene material depicting minors engaged in harmful contact at a court in Florida yesterday, BBC News reports.

‘The Pedophile’s Guide to Love and Pleasure: a Child-lover’s Code of Conduct’ argues that paedophiles are misunderstood and purports to offer advice to help them abide by the law.

Greaves was arrested in December after selling a copy of the self-published book to an undercover police officer in Florida.

He will serve his probation in his home state of Colorado.

Greaves became notorious last year when the e-book caused controversy for Amazon.com when they first refused to remove it from their online store only to bow to pressure and remove it after the book made it into its top 100 bestsellers.
