1. #DEATH:  A man has died fleeing the scene of a raid on a senior garda’s house last night. The Garda Ombudsman Commission has been called in to investigate the matter.

2. #SHOOTING: Leroy Harris, an actor from Love/Hate, has been shot in Dublin.

3. #ASBESTOS: The Government was aware of asbestos found in a naval ship in the past week more than a decade ago.

4. #LETTERS: The Irish Times reports that a High Court judge has granted temporary injunctions restraining an expert on rare books representing himself as the owner of the valuable letters written by Jacqueline Kennedy.

5. #SUMMER: Dust off the sunscreen, temperatures are set to soar to 20 degrees today.

6. #DEATH SENTENCE: A pregnant woman has been sentenced to flogging and hanging in Sudan.

7. #BANNED: An EU country has banned energy drinks for under 18s.

8. #BRAZIL: Tear gas and bullets were used on protesters in Brazil who were demonstrating against the money being spent on the World Cup.

9. #GOOD KARMA: Three roommates who found $40,000 stuffed into a second-hand sofa have returned it to a 91-year-old owner.
