Payment issue for some AIB customers delayed the payment of wages

The problems are believed to be unrelated from the ATM problems that plagued customers last month.

Updated 16.01

AIB SAY THEY have resolved a payment processing issue that saw the wages of some customers  going unpaid.

The problem was caused by a delay in processing some overnight payments which carried over to this morning.

A spokesperson for the bank has said that the issue related only to a “small number of payments” and that the “vast majority of payments” were processed quickly.

AIB says that the remainder of the transfers are scheduled to be completed this afternoon.

Some customers who contacted TheJournal.ie said that the issue was frustrating in light of the problems that persisted last month when AIB customers with debit cards couldn’t withdraw money from ATMs.

This morning’s problems are believed to be unrelated from that ATM issue.
