SPARE A THOUGHT for all those Glastonbury folk, crashing back to reality this morning after a long, muddy weekend.
But hey, they look like they had fun.
A photo has been doing the rounds on social media claiming to be the best taken at Glastonbury this weekend. It’s pretty great, in fairness.
But is it actually from Glastonbury?
Of course not.
The ‘best pic taken at Glastonbury so far’ was actually taken at Outside Lands in San Francisco, during Young the Giant’s set.
Look at him go.
Our hero’s name is 26-year-old Ryan Chen, who was paralysed from the waist down after he injured his spinal chord in a snowboarding stunt in 2009.
The photo goes viral pretty much every festival season.
Chen is friends with the band, and they even commented on the photo when it was posted on Reddit last year:
It was pretty amazing, looking out onto a sea of people and seeing Ryan being propped up on his wheelchair. Ryan has an incredible attitude about life and is almost always the happiest person in the room.
Speaking to the Huffington Post last year, Chen said he snuck into the festival with his filmaker friend James Marcus Haney and they both agreed that Chen should crowdsurf during My Body, his favourite song, which has lyrics including
My body tells me no, but I won’t quit. ‘Cause I want more, ‘cause I want more.
Twitter soon started making fun of the massive amount of shares the old photo was getting, posting their own guesses.
