A MAN IN his 30s was arrested by gardaí last night after he crashed his car into the gates of the British Embassy on Merrion Road in Dublin.
In a statement, gardaí said that the incident occurred around 9pm, and caused minor damage to the gates.
TheJournal.ie understands that the man shouted an anti-British slogan as he exited the car prior to his arrest.
It is also believed the man is a dissident republican, who is a known associate of dissidents based in north Dublin.
Gardaí added: “The male (32) is currently being detained at Donnybrook Garda station under the provisions of section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 as amended for Criminal Damage.”
