AN EXAMINER HAS been appointed to the clothing store Carl Scarpa which operates 17 stores across the island of Ireland.
Carl Scarpa is the trading name of CS Calzature Ltd and Carl Scarpa (Grafton Street) Ltd which between them operate 21 outlets across the UK and Ireland.
The companies employ over 80 full-time and part-time staff and have been in existence since 1974 when the first store was opened in Sligo.
A spokesperson for the examiner Tom Kavanagh of Kavanagh Fennell said that the process aims to reach agreement with creditors to renegotiate rents, secure new investment and protect employment.
The statement goes on to say that a report from Hughes Blake chartered accountants concluded that creditors would be substantially better off under the restructuring plan than if the companies were to cease trading.
The company says that it hopes that the business will continue to develop with the directors confident of securing new equity.
