Armed raid on cash-in-transit van in Clondalkin

A man has been arrested in connection to the incident.

GARDAÍ IN CLONDALKIN recovered a sum of cash following a cash-in-transit robbery at Bawnogue Shopping Centre this morning.

At approximately 11.20am two males approached a cash in transit worker as he was making a delivery to a premises in the shopping centre.

Handgun

The two men threatened the worker with a handgun before making off in a waiting jeep with a sum of money.

A garda patrol that was passing by the area at the time observed the jeep leaving the car park and followed it a short distance to Kilmahuddrick. The gardaí arrested a man in his 30s and recovered cash and a firearm.

The man is currently detained at Clondalkin Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939 and the investigation is ongoing.
