THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE lined the streets of Liverpool today as Cilla Black was laid to rest in her home city.
Cliff Richard was among her celebrity friends who attended the funeral mass at St Mary’s Church in Woolton. He looked emotional as he sang in memory of his friend, opening the service with his own song, Faithful One.
Entertainers Paul O’Grady, Jimmy Tarbuck and Christopher Biggins gave readings, along with her sons.
Fans were seen lining the two-mile route to the church as her hearse passed.
Black, the 1960s singer who later carved out a new career as a stalwart of Friday and Saturday night TV, was found dead on 1 August at her villa near Marbella in Spain.
