Prisoner facing discipline after breaking out onto roof of Cloverhill prison

AN INMATE AT Cloverhill Prison is facing disciplinary action this evening after breaking out onto an internal roof at the facility.

The incident happened at about 5.30pm at the remand prison in Clondalkin, west Dublin.

The prisoner remained in place on the roof for just over an hour before being persuaded by staff to come back down.

A spokesman for the prison service confirmed that no injuries were sustained during the incident.

The male prisoner will now be subject to internal disciplinary action as a consequence of this actions, the spokesman confirmed.
