Two youths stranded on rocks airlifted to hospital

The incident happened at around 4pm this afternoon on Nun’s Beach in Co Kerry.

A RESCUE EFFORT has seen two youths taken to safety after being marooned by a high-tide.

The incident happened at around 4pm this afternoon on Nun’s Beach in the Ballybunion area.

A 999 call resulted in the Ballybunion Coast Guard unit and a community rescue boat attending the scene.

There were six individuals in total involved. Four of them had managed to make it to shore while two others were seen to be caught on rocks.

Unable to make it back due to a rising tide, the community rescue boat was used to recover the two.

They were taken back to the beach and subsequently airlifted to Kerry General Hospital in Tralee to be treated for signs of hypothermia.
