Dixons retail sales up 8% in Ireland and UK

Dixons Retail has posted an 8 per cent rise in sales in Ireland and the United Kingdom over the key Christmas period.

DIXONS RETAILS HAS posted an 8 per cent rise in sales in Ireland and the United Kingdom over the key Christmas period.

The company said it would meets its end-of-year targets due to the rise in sales in Ireland, the UK and Nordic regions – where it trades as Curry and PC World, and Elkjop, respectively.

Dixons said group sales at stores operating for one year has risen 3 per cent in its fiscal third quarter, exceeding analyst forecasts of 1.5 – 2 per cent.

However, the group also reported that sales had continued to fall in southern Europe, with an 8 per cent drop seen in countries like Italy and Greece – where the company trades as UniEuro and Kotsovolos, respectively.

Dixons expects the full group annual underlying profit before tax to be in line with market expectations of £75 million
to £85 million
