€10,000 worth of cannabis, two sawn off shotguns and a pistol seized by gardaí

The man in his 20s who was arrested at the scene is to appear in court today.

A MALE HAS BEEN arrested and charged in Portarlington as part of an ongoing investigation targeting the sale and supply of controlled drugs in the Laois area.

He will appear before a special sitting of Portlaoise District Ct at 10am this morning.

During the search of an apartment at the Oaks, Killnacourt, Portarlington two sawn off shotguns, a pistol and a quantity of ammunition were recovered. In addition cannabis herb with an estimated street value of up to €10,000 was also seized.

The man, in his late 20’s was arrested at the scene and he is currently detained under the provisions of Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939 at Portlaoise Garda Station.
