• A man was charged with the murder of a man whose body was found floating in waters off Sliabh Liag cliffs in Co Donegal. 
• Two men were arrested after an estimated €11.4 million worth of cocaine was found in a horsebox at Rosslare Harbour.
• A judge heard that a Dublin man was charged with inciting hatred had allegedly posted a social media video saying refugees “were here to rape women and children”.
• The four-year sentence imposed on former Sinn Féin councillor Jonathan Dowdall for facilitating the murder of Kinahan Cartel member David Byrne at the Regency Hotel was “very lenient”, the Court of Appeal has found in its dismissal of the convicted torturer’s bid to have his jail time reduced.
• Ireland’s emissions fell only 2% in 2022, according to the latest assessment by the Environmental Protection Agency.
• The Central Criminal Court heard that two forestry workers were searching a rural woodland 42 years ago for dumped rubbish when they found what they initially thought was a dead pig before realising it was the body of a woman.

• Ryan Tubridy’s appearance before the Public Accounts Committee on Tuesday has clocked up the most views ever recorded for Oireachtas TV. 

• The HSE issued a safety warning after two e-cigarette devices were found to have illegally high levels of nicotine in them.
• Health Minister Stephen Donnelly has said speculation on the cost of the National Children’s Hospital is not helpful but that it is going to cost more than the previously sanctioned €1.4 billion.
• A Status Yellow thunderstorm warning was issued by Met Éireann for several counties this evening following a day of heavy rain. 
• Gardaí made an arrest into the alleged assault and false imprisonment of a taxi driver following an incident that occurred in the early hours of this morning on Fitzgibbon Street in Dublin. 
• There was a major injury concern for Ireland following their final World Cup warm-up game against Colombia, which they withdrew from after 20 minutes due to “overly physical” play.

#KEVIN SPACEY The Oscar-winning actor denied he is a sexual bully as he told a jury he “did not have a power wand that I waved in front of people’s faces whenever I wanted someone to go to bed with me”. 

#THE NORTH Police officers were told they will not be participating in an official capacity at this year’s Belfast Pride parade, which takes place on Friday 29 July. 

#LISA-MARIE PRESLEY She died of complications from bariatric surgery she had several years ago, authorities confirmed.

Ryan Tubridy’s appearance at the Public Accounts Committee on Tuesday alongside his agent Noel Kelly received intense media coverage and even spawned live viewing events in some pubs.

This wasn’t the first time the Oireacthas hearings gripped the nation, having done similar when John Delaney, former chief executive of the Football Association of Ireland, facedy politicians back in 2019.
