Gardaí want to speak to driver of Opel Insignia about fatal collision

A man in his 60s died following a collision between a van and a truck yesterday.

GARDAÍ HAVE APPEALED for information following a collision between a van and a truck in which a man in his 60s died in Co Clare yesterday.

In a renewed appeal released today, gardaí said they are “anxious to speak to the male driver of a dark-coloured Opel Insignia saloon car who may have witnessed the fatal collision”.

The man who died was the sole occupant of a red Ford Transit van which collided with a white articulated Volvo truck at Junction 13 Southbound on the M18 at Ennis at 12:48pm yesterday.

Gardaí and emergency services were called to the scene at about 1.20pm. The man was pronounced dead a short time later. The male driver of the truck, who was uninjured, was questioned by gardaí after the collision.

Anyone with information has been asked to contact Ennis Garda Station on 065 684 8100 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
