Two women charged as part of organised crime crackdown

Up to 80 gardaí were involved in searches in Waterford and Wexford today.

TWO WOMEN HAVE been charged as part of an operation targeting an organised criminal gang operating nationally from the south-eastern region.

The women, aged 44 and 46 years, were charged in connection with a garda operation that took place in Waterford and Wexford today.

Over 80 gardaí took part in nine co-ordinated searches with the assistance of the Criminal Assets Bureau, Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, Stolen Motor Vehicle Investigation Unit, Garda Air Support and Officers from Revenue Custom and Excise.

Property believed to be stolen with an estimated value of €75,000 was recovered and seized.

The two women were charged this afternoon and released on bail. They are due to appear in court tomorrow at 10.30am.
