GARDAÍ ARE INVESTIGATING the circumstances surrounding a car crash in Mayo last night which left one person dead.
A man in his early thirties was fatally injured when the car he was driving collided with a wall on the Claremorris to Ballyhaunis road near Brickens at around 9pm on Saturday night.
Gardaí say that he was the only person in the car and no one else was injured. He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was taken to Mayo General Hospital in Castlebar.
Gardaí have closed the road as their forensic team complete their examination of the scene. Local diversions are in place.
