THE THREE-DAY Electric Picnic Festival gets underway on Friday in Stradbally, Co Laois.
This year’s event features a range of headline acts including The Cure, Hot Chip, Sigur Ros, Christy Moore, Elbow and The Killers.
While the MindField and Body&Soul sections features again this year at the festival, the Trailer Park is a new area which featuring a theatrical enclosure celebrating the mobile home and the American ‘front porch’ tradition.
EP’s organisers are also promising a “secret Cuban room” at the Casa Bacardí area. Reggae village Trenchtown is heading for the festival and, as Jamaica marks 50 years of independence, will bring revellers on a journey of Jamaican history.
For younger EP revellers, there are planned yoga sessions, fairy workshops and other arts and crafts activities.
The gates open at 9am on Friday, but the media was given special access to the site today to bring you a sneak peek of the festival site:
