THE LUAS RED Line now boasts five new stops with the opening of the Citywest extension.
The new route links Belgard and Saggart and has stops at Fettercairn, Cheeverstown, Citywest Campus, Fortunestown and Saggart. The Cheeverstown stop has a park and ride facility with 312 parking spaces. The Irish Times reports that the new line will carry an extra two million passengers a year.
The line was opened today by Minister for Transport Leo Varadkar, who said that a decision to link the Red and Green lines and on the construction of Metro North won’t be made until September, when a new National Development Plan is published, reports RTÉ.
The Luas Red line is free for the day to celebrate the opening of the Citywest extension.
