POLICE IN MANCHESTER have released an image of a man they would like to speak to after he apparently tried to sell a baby to someone in the city centre.

Shortly after 2.30pm this afternoon the man with a baby in a pram approached another man in Barton Arcade and offered to sell him the baby.

Greater Manchester Police have released the image of the man in an attempt to trace him.

“This is extremely unusual and at this time we are trying to establish the full circumstances of the situation, but most importantly check on the welfare of the child,” said Sergeant David Henshall of the Greater Manchester Police.

If anyone recognises the man in the image or has been approached by him in a similar situation please contact police urgently.

Anyone with information should call police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
